Office of Science Alerts requires the patron to conduct a benchmark search (or searches) to define his or her topics of interest. Later, Office of Science Alerts repeats that search on a schedule, identifies any new items not found by previous searches, and alerts the patron.

Setting up Office of Science Alerts requires two steps.

1. IDENTIFY YOURSELF, so that Office of Science Alerts knows who you are, and knows where and when to send alerts.
2. DEFINE YOUR BENCHMARK SEARCH. Note: You may wish to use the search selected databases option to determine the best keywords and database descriptions prior to creating your alert.
